US Presence in Afghanistan to be Re-Labeled as Counter Terrorism

“War never changes.” — some fallout dude

While rumors abound about a troop withdrawal, statements made by identified Republicans and Democrats telegraph a continued troop presence in Afghanistan.

Mitch McConnell and Joe Biden made statements warning that a troop withdrawal would be bad. Going further, Biden said that they would stay, but be called a counter terrorism force.

The War in Afghanistan has been going on since October 2001.

These publicly verifiable statements about troops remaining in Afghanistan are contradicted by “US Officials” who requested to remain anonymous.

McConnell is also on about Trump being right about the Covid vaccine timeline.

The US does have an agreement to lower toop levels next year, but part of it basically says “unless we don’t want too”.

Boston Dynamics Robots Offshore

Most every title about this has a silly pun.

Advertisements

One of their robots is being used to do some of the slightly more routine tasks on one of the more dangerous jobs in the world.

It looks like they have an ad campaign in full swing with what look like native ads and cross promotional tie ins.

Boston Dynamics has just recently, on November 11th, released a new version of the Spot robot.

Although they sporadically release youtube videos of their robots when they do new things, as of this writing, they have not put out any new video associated with this.

Glitchcon is a fully virtual event going on this weekend.

Boston Dynamics does not currently offer a robot intended for personal use.

Remember that Korean Covid Death Cult?

not like they think this is the rapture or anything.

Singapore just arrested 21 people who they say are part of this “Unlawful Society”. They could be imprisoned for 3 years for this.

This religious organization has got a bit of a bad rap in Korea, probably because of Covid paranoia and that they are accused of praying close to each other.

Near the beginning of the pandemic, they were criticized for traveling all around the world while people claim they knew they were infected.

The group’s name is Shincheonji Church of Jesus and they’re basically just christians.

Meanwhile, American christians arn’t being strange at all.

Almost 19% of South Korea’s Covid cases are linked to SCJ.

WSJ Decision, Trust, Pay

Morgan Stanley to Buy E*Trade; so fresh

Advertisements

This ad’s text is triggering some people. They think it’s about the currently controversial presidential election.

In reality, it’s far too vague, and that’s almost certainly intentional. Likely, it’s even meant to take advantage of emotional people on the topic of the election, but they didn’t say that.

It then appeals to Trust and tries to fool you into thinking you haggled the price down a whopping ~90%.

But you better not think about it, because it’s a limited time offer; and you don’t want to miss out on that 90% discount, do you?

As of September, around 9% of people trust mass media according to polls. (lol)

At the time of writing, 9 people had said they liked this ad.

NOV 14, Next Crewed SpaceX Launch

“SPACESHIP!” – lego dude from a movie, lol

Advertisements

SpaceX has posted to twitter that it is going to try to launch people to the Space Station this coming Saturday, November 14th.

Spaceship! It’s cool, yo | “KSC-20180726-PH_SPX01_0001” by NASAKennedy is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0

The crew for this mission has arrived in Florida and includes 4 people where the last one had only 2.

The pilot, Victor Glover, completed his astronaut training in 2015.

This mission used to be scheduled for October. It’s not uncommon for rocket launches to be postponed due to weather.

A couple days after Crew Dragon is scheduled to arrive, the ISS plans a sapacewalk.

This launch is meant to be at pad 39A.

First Nuclear Power in Belarus

You might only know of Minsk, but the Brest city is Pinsk.

Advertisements

This landlocked country just started operating a nuclear power plant for the first time earlier this week.

The facility is expected to create 2.2 Gigawatts of electricity which is less than 1% of the country’s total electricity production. They have a net export of about 1 Terawatt.

Belarus was once part of Lithuania.

Modern day Lithuania doesn’t like that the plant has been built, partly because it’s pretty close to their capital city.

The EU doesn’t like what Lukashenko did in his recent election.

Lithuania used to have an old Soviet nuclear plant, but closed it in 2009

Landscaping Comes to the Front

Lovely gardens are often places where nice announcements are made, but this feels different.

Advertisements

Victorian era gardening is an ornate refinement of the English garden. Often, divided into cute little garden “rooms”.

Landscaping in general requires an understanding of the land and what the area is intended to be used for.

The Horticultural Society of London was founded in 1804 and was a response to growing interest in little private park like gardens.

Modern American landscaping has become quite commercial and often includes things like snow removal.

Even hotly contested presidential elections get landscaping companies involved.

Landscaping Network does still suggest not limiting yourself to pastel colors.

Nintendo Reaps the Benefits of Lockdowns

Not really their fault, so don’t blame them for making a buck.

Advertisements

Nintendo is making a bunch of money off of gaming driven by pandemic lockdowns. They expect this to continue with Pikmin 3 Deluxe

Fictional creatures at something like 200x scale frozen in time | “Pikmin statue” by Gage Skidmore is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0

They expect the good times to keep going with this release. It’s slated to be all of what Pikmin 3 was with all the DLC included and some additions.

The first Pikmin 3 came out about 7 years ago in 2013.

Pikmin 4 was “almost done” in 2015, so we’re not really sure what’s up with that.

For those unfamiliar, Pikmin are kinda like onions, a valuable commodity and useful food.

The collective noun for cute pikmin is a “crop”.

Chloroform Use Discovered

Looks like an American made some earlier, but didn’t know what it could do.

Advertisements

Although it had been known to have anesthetic properties for many years before, a Scottish man proved you could use it on humans

Chloroform is often administered by rags in fiction | “Masked Rag Doll busker – Bourke St Mall” by avlxyz is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0

This stuff can form unintentionally when trying to disinfect stuff, so caution should be used when cleaning things and keep the area well ventilated.

Oregon just decriminalized drugs, so presumably, it wouldn’t be a crime to carry some for exceedingly dangerous recreational use. Please don’t do stuff like that.

Oddly enough, the people advocating for this there think it will save lives, so who knows.

Portugal, where they also decriminalized drugs in 2000, may have concerns about Trump being reelected.

Left in the air, chloroform becomes really poisonous.

More Space-Internet from Starlink

This is just one more step closer to catgirl-transhumanism.

Advertisements

Musk has announced that many more people will be allowed to purchase the 50 to 150 meg service from his company as they roll out wider coverage.

“SpaceX Starlink Broadband Satellite Deployment over Earth” by jurvetson is licensed under CC BY 2.0

In a brief message, he calls this “beta participation”, which, true to form, has a certain kind of humor to it.

Starlink aims to provide high speed internet to the entire globe.

Astronomers are a bit miffed by the project. This is because it causes significant optical interference for earth based space observations.

The next launch of more Starlink satellites was meant to be back on October 9th, but has been delayed to a yet to be determined future date.

Currently, there are about 900 of these little guys in orbit.
