Conflict between NY Mayor, Governor

If it’s the Empire State, why is he a Governor and not an Emperor?

The New York Mayor has announced the closure of in person schooling for the city while the Governor calls for it to be undone for being anti-science.

A health committee chairperson and infectious disease experts side with the Governor on the topic.

The Mayor is just enforcing a policy that was put in place at the beginning of the school year.

While this was a surprise to many, the Mayor had been warning that this was likely enough to happen that he suggested people have plans in place.

The state has effectively canceled Thanksgiving too by limiting private gatherings.

Significant portions of this were communicated on twitter first.

The way this new process is framed and spoken of is reminiscent of New Zealand before they have established isolation camps for non compliant travelers.

Across the other ocean, the UK government has decided to institute another, now month long, lockdown.

As there is a minimum 3 day quarantine associated with this, even if you are negative, this should eliminate a significant portion of business travel.

One of the best games of 2013 was Papers, Please.

Cuomo believes New Yorkers should be proud of this.

Why is Election Integrity a Partisan Issue?

Like a coin, there are two sides to every story and the truth is probably like landing on edge.

People talk about invalid mail in ballots as if they are necessarily innocent mistakes that should be overlooked, but signature verification is flawed and no verification would admit of fraud.

Despite some people being unconcerned with the potential of mail in voter fraud, confidence in the election system is important.

In 2000 Frankie Muniz was part of a group that hosted the Kids Choice Awards.

The crux of the issue is that one side thinks identifying a voter’s identity enables confidence in the system and the other thinks it is voter suppression.

People are afraid of election fraud in Bosnia-Herzegovina too, where the election is on November 15th.

Over ¾ of a million ballots were disregarded in 2016 and 2018.

The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has rendered a unanimous decision -7 to 0- to disallow signature verification on mail in voting on the basis that it’s not required by current law.

Combined with another decision that will allow for mail in ballots to arrive after November 3rd and without an appropriate postmark, the system in place would seem to be built to allow fraud.

In a 1764 election, Benjamin Franklin was able to take advantage of the structure of Pennsylvania’s voting system to run for a County position and a City of Philadelphia position at the same time.

A contested result could cause chaos, but in the past, similar situations have worked themselves out.

Despite the recent court rulings, the plebs are still being told they have to get their vote in by the 3rd.
