US Presence in Afghanistan to be Re-Labeled as Counter Terrorism

“War never changes.” — some fallout dude

While rumors abound about a troop withdrawal, statements made by identified Republicans and Democrats telegraph a continued troop presence in Afghanistan.

Mitch McConnell and Joe Biden made statements warning that a troop withdrawal would be bad. Going further, Biden said that they would stay, but be called a counter terrorism force.

The War in Afghanistan has been going on since October 2001.

These publicly verifiable statements about troops remaining in Afghanistan are contradicted by “US Officials” who requested to remain anonymous.

McConnell is also on about Trump being right about the Covid vaccine timeline.

The US does have an agreement to lower toop levels next year, but part of it basically says “unless we don’t want too”.

Among other things, he said we have a dark winter ahead.

Major oil companies are trading about 1% lower than yesterday before Biden made a negative comment about the oil industry at last night’s debate.

Biden said he would end the oil industry when Trump asked him as part of a less chaotic performance than the first debate.

In Pennsylvania, oil was first discovered in 1859 in Titusville.

In all likelihood, Biden was trying to say we need to end the oil industry at some point, but just failed to specify when in the heat of the moment. However, tens of millions of people whose lives and livelihoods depend on this industry may have been a bit spooked by the statement.

The Department of Energy is hoping to encourage the use of nuclear power generation.

Biden’s son has worked for a company in the energy sector before, so maybe he knows a thing or two about it.

Debate Tonight

A normal debate would have a single topic known in advance.

While it is possible to find something unprecedented in almost any event, tonight’s debate has an easy one to pick out. The debate’s organizer intended to silence the participants at various times.

Each side will have 2 minutes for each 15 minute segment, uninterrupted time.

Even though it’s kinda like being preemptively put in time out, strangely, this moves the event closer to the format of an actual debate.

In 1948 a presidential primary debate focused on outlawing the Communist party and in this one the opening statements were 10 times as long!

Some people think that there should be no muting because it can only make Trump look good and throw off Biden or the moderator, but this probably can’t stop either thing from happening.

Some of the recent residents of the ISS have made it safely back in time to watch the debates from solid ground.

Some of the information obtained from NPR concerning this national event was modified by the other party at 9:50 ET
