UK Considering “Freedom Pass”

The former Health Secretary is supporting the idea that you need permission from the state to go outside. Floating the idea that you need to have tested negative for Covid 2 times in a week.

While the details are yet to be rendered, the UK government is hopeful that this could lead to normalcy despite being substantially authoritarian.

This is the sort of thing that police states are criticized for.

There is already movement of people opposing the various Covid related regulations.

The UK government is still considering whether to cancel Christmas or not.

They are unsure about allowing an audience, but sports games are likely to be allowed.

Library to Curbside Only

Please register in advance.

Citing a significant increase in Covid cases and staff exposure, the Saint Charles City-County Library system will move to curbside only service.

Outreach services and parking lot WiFi internet access will still be offered. However, the Kathryn Linnemann branch is still closed due to flood damage.

This library system has been up and running since 1973.

Curbside service isn’t, however, meant to function like a drive thru. The system asks that you place books on hold in advance and you will be notified when you can come.

Saint Charles County has recently been on about snakes.

In 1988, voters agreed to a 5 cent tax increase, partly, to help fund the library.

California Governor Orders Curfew

He promises he won’t enforce it, no really

Starting Saturday, Californians aren’t allowed out of their homes at night so as to combat Covid spread despite strong criticism of the effectiveness of the strategy and the Governors hypocrisy.

CHHS Secretary said it was because of what people might do at night.

Curfews in the US have been criticized as being racist.

Pointing out that this is an overreach of government, state representatives have said it is idiotic and sheriffs have said they won’t enforce it.

The curfew is scheduled to cover Thanksgiving and Hanukkah end shortly before Christmas.

In an effort to exempt homeless people, it seems like it’s not a violation to be out after curfew if you’re alone.

CDC Suggests No Thanksgiving Get Together

They stop just short of saying “Don’t do it or you’ll kill grandma.”

The CDC is suggesting that people do not gather for Thanksgiving and opt for ‘virtual’ gatherings instead.

Since they understand that some people won’t want to follow that guideline, they reiterate their standard Covid precautions.

This is their first news briefing in months.

Some local governments have even stricter rules about holiday travel.

The next turkey season in Missouri practically starts on Thanksgiving.

As far as Covid restrictions are concerned, dogs are people too, according to the CDC.

Conflict between NY Mayor, Governor

If it’s the Empire State, why is he a Governor and not an Emperor?

The New York Mayor has announced the closure of in person schooling for the city while the Governor calls for it to be undone for being anti-science.

A health committee chairperson and infectious disease experts side with the Governor on the topic.

The Mayor is just enforcing a policy that was put in place at the beginning of the school year.

While this was a surprise to many, the Mayor had been warning that this was likely enough to happen that he suggested people have plans in place.

The state has effectively canceled Thanksgiving too by limiting private gatherings.

Significant portions of this were communicated on twitter first.

Singapore just arrested 21 people who they say are part of this “Unlawful Society”. They could be imprisoned for 3 years for this.

This religious organization has got a bit of a bad rap in Korea, probably because of Covid paranoia and that they are accused of praying close to each other.

Near the beginning of the pandemic, they were criticized for traveling all around the world while people claim they knew they were infected.

The group’s name is Shincheonji Church of Jesus and they’re basically just christians.

Meanwhile, American christians arn’t being strange at all.

Almost 19% of South Korea’s Covid cases are linked to SCJ.

NY Forces Testing

Governor of NY announces interstate travel regulations which include mandatory COVID testing while saying that people won’t be “free to go” until they prove they are negative.

The way this new process is framed and spoken of is reminiscent of New Zealand before they have established isolation camps for non compliant travelers.

Across the other ocean, the UK government has decided to institute another, now month long, lockdown.

As there is a minimum 3 day quarantine associated with this, even if you are negative, this should eliminate a significant portion of business travel.

One of the best games of 2013 was Papers, Please.

Cuomo believes New Yorkers should be proud of this.

Germany to do More Lockdown

WHO says you shouldn’t do that?

In what they are calling “Lockdown Light”, Germany is going on with its authoritarian pandemic response, puritanically targeting bars and restaurants despite contradicting evidence.

The World Health Organization says that there are significant negative outcomes associated with implementing lockdowns while at the same time kinda trying to say they don’t say that.

France, Spain, and Italy are doing much the same as Germany.

While announcing the new measures, Merkel, who has been Chancellor since 2005, said the issue would be burdensome.

Oktoberfest was canceled this year for the virus.

This time, the lockdown is supposed to last for four weeks.
