Scientists Look for Light Beyond Pluto

The New Horizons spacecraft has been used to look at the Cosmic Optical Background. They’re looking to see if the universe glows in the dark.

They used the LORRI camera to detect light and then subtracted out all known light, finding there was yet more light.

This is the spacecraft that flew by Pluto in 2015.

It’s possible that this light is from our sun, just reflected in fine and far flung dust.

Other famous space observing equipment faces demolition.
